Special Art and Fine Craft Exhibit at Sycamore Fine Arts

Date: October 14, 2009 through November 30, 2009 Hours are Mon. – Sat. 10:00 a.m. --5:00 p.m. Artist reception/demonstrations November 7, 2009, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sycamore Fine Arts is hosting for the first time in its history a special exhibit of American Fine Craft. The exhibit is appropriately titled: Fine Crafted Art for the Home. The exhibit is now open and will run through November 30, 2009. In conjunction with the exhibit, special activities and artist demonstrations have been planned to coordinate with Goshen’s Open Studio Tour on Saturday, November 7. Master woodworker Neil Gloudemans of Fort Wayne showcases a new collection of exquisitely turned wooden bowls, vases, and urns. Goshen resident Rebecca Sommers displays a gorgeous array of quilted and hand-dyed tapestries and wall hangings. Brown County metal smith, Dean Howard offers beautiful, hand-forged decorative and/or functional sculptures and furniture. Striking, advanced blown glass work is on display from glass artist Rick Garnett from Kansas. Joining the cast is ceramic artist and teacher Kari Black. Black teaches at the South Bend Museum of Art and has brought in a wide variety of unique pieces designed to enliven any space. On November 7th, not only will a number of artists be doing demonstrations,. also on that day the Old Bag Factory will be celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary.
